4K 3D High Frame Rate
As a combined project of the European Broadcasting Union EBU and the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institute, the KUK Filmproduktion produced a 3D 4K High Frame Rate documentary of the Eurovision Young Dancers competition in Gdansk, Poland.
The Eurovision Young Dancers competition is open to solo dancers of EBU Member broadcasters, aged between 15 and 21. The aim of the competition is to provide a showcase for top-class contemporary artistic dance performances and bring the finest young dancers to the international spotlight, in front of a large television audience.
The new 4K 3D HFR format means: stereo 3D shot with four times the resolution of HD at a frame rate of 50 frames per second to get smooth movements of the dance actions. Therefore two SONY F65 cameras (supported by BAND PRO and MXR Productions) equipped with high-quality LEICA lenses have been integrated into the KUK 3D mirror rig. The content in various formats is intended to be used in the world‘s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances – IFA, in September in Berlin, and the International Broadcasting Convention – IBC in Amsterdam the week after.
